Carré Sutton – Role Model for Change
She is currently number 4 on Love Teen Vogue’s list of brave women speaking out about girls and body image. Carré has long been one of the most recognizable faces in the modeling industry. She first achieved fame when she appeared on the cover of Elle (France) in April 1986 and has and has appeared on the covers many top magazines around the world. Carré is now on the Advisory Board of Model Alliance and is an ambassador for the National Eating Disorder Association. In December of 2013 she gave her first Ted Talk in San Francisco where she addressed several themes related to her activism. Carré is passionate about the dangerous impact of media-messaging on our culture – especially young women. In 2011, HarperCollins published her memoir, Beauty Disrupted.
In late April Carré Sutton and Megan Cronin Larson, MSW, LCSW (a youth play therapist) will be donating their time to present a panel discussion and Q&A on girls and body image. The event will be held in the Boulder area and all proceeds from tickets will be donated to BVWS. More details will be provided in the near future.
