I was born and raised in Harding, New Jersey. I found out at an early age that supporting and helping others is what I find most fulfilling and important in life. My first job working in an outpatient clinical facility for adolescents allowed me to gain insight and interest in supporting children & their families. That opportunity opened my eyes to the world of social work, leading me to relocate to Colorado and pursue a Masters of Social Work from The University of Denver.
Continued work brought me to work in schools, facilitating individual and group counseling services to elementary aged children struggling with social/emotional disabilities and behavioral difficulties.
My passion for working with children and their parents guided me to the child welfare system where for five years I strived to promote child well-being and family engagement for families in Boulder County.
After leaving Boulder County Housing & Human Services, I decided that I wanted to start a private practice and get advanced training in a treatment for children that worked and that I believed in. I heard about Synergetic Play Therapy and immediately was intrigued by this model. I currently now hold a Certificate in Synergetic Play Therapy (2 year program). I continue to be amazed at the connections Synergetic play Therapy has on the the brain, mind, body and behavior. The growth and transformation seen in my clients continues to inspire me in this work. The ability to help a child learn how to regulate his or her own nervous system, positively influencing their development across their lifetime is something I find exciting and remarkable. I was fortunate enough to train under Lisa Dion, creator of Synergetic Play therapy while seeing clients for the Play Therapy Institute in Boulder, CO http://www.playtherapycolorado.com. I am now thrilled about being a part of the community at the JOY Collective. To learn more about what JOY has to offer follow this link: http://www.pregnancyparentingboulder.com.
Outside of my practice, I am fortunate enough to work with Carre Sutton. Together, our intention is to bring awareness, wisdom and compassion to the journey we are all on. We are passionate about educating parents and the community at large about the prevention of eating disorders for our youth. There is much we can do together! We periodically teach and travel across the country giving talks, and retreats that support this mission.
